| http://www.myspace.com/autopsyfansiteHaving played on Death's seminal debut, Scream Bloody Gore, drummer Chris Reifert decided to leave both band and home, moving to San Francisco, where Autopsy was formed in 1987. Autopsy's music was firmly rooted in death metal (being one of the earlier bands to promote themselves as exactly that), with the main difference being that they usually didn't focus on speed as many other bands of the day, but instead opted for a more mid-paced grind style, sometimes slowed down to doom speed, mixed in with occasional speed bursts. Lyrically, the band's album titles and song titles ("Disembowel", "Destined To Fester", "Charred Remains", "Twisted Mass Of Burnt Decay", etc) pretty much tell the story. The band broke up around the time of their last album, with Reifert and Coralles moving on to Abscess. More recently, Reifert has teamed up with Danny Lilker (Anthrax, Stormtroopers Of Death) and Killjoy (Necrophagia) in a band called The Ravenous. Legendary band, some of the best death metal you'll ever hear in your life imo. | |
